Introduction

From 1 April 2017, each of the 32 existing MPF schemes has been offering the Default Investment Strategy (DIS).

DIS represents a major reform of the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) System. It aims to provide scheme members with better retirement protection.

The DIS standardizes the default arrangements of the MPF schemes, and also addresses the concerns about the high fee levels of MPF funds and scheme members’ difficulties in making fund choices. The DIS is designed for scheme members who do not know how to or are not interested in managing their MPF.

DIS 1-2-3

The DIS:

Is 1 ready-made investment solution.

Comprises of 2 mixed assets funds. Like other MPF funds, the two funds under the DIS are managed by investment manages appointed by the trustees.

Has 3 key features:

If scheme members do not give their trustee an investment instruction, the MPF benefits in their accounts will be invested automatically according to the DIS.

Scheme members can also opt for the DIS or the two funds under the DIS.

Smart Tip

If you have not received any letters about your MPF for a while, or if you have changed your correspondence address, please contact your trustees to confirm they have your current address and ensure you will receive letters from them. You can access the trustees’ websites or download the trustees’ forms for updating your contact information here.
